Barcelona, Here I Come!

Tomorrow morning I'll be leaving for Barcelona.

I've lived in Spain for nearly nineteen years now, but I still haven't been to Barcelona, so I'm pretty happy to finally be able to take this trip.  But what I'm really excited about is that I'm going there to see my friend, H., who I haven't seen in over twenty years.  She was one of my very best friends in high school, and although we lost track of each other for a few years, we ended up finding each other again.  We started e-mailing on and off, and then we discovered Skype, which has been a fantastic way to get reacquainted.  But still, while e-mail and Skype are all well and good, it's not the same as talking face to face and sharing real-life experiences, so we have been trying for the past few months to figure out a way to see each other again.  And now we finally have the chance.  H. found a really good package deal to come to Barcelona for a week, and so we're off to have a girls' week out.

So, I won't be blogging this coming week, but I'll be back soon with all the tales of our adventures.  I don't know exactly what we'll be seeing, besides the obvious tourist attractions; we'll  kind of wing it and decide when we get there.  But what I can say is that we have signed up for a special walking tour on Saturday that should be very interesting.  We found a site called My Favorite Things that offers a different sort of tour from the ones you usually find for tourists, which is exactly what we wanted.  Anyway,  I'll tell you guys all about that when I get back.  And I've also received a free Barcelona audioguide from iAudioguide.com, in exchange for a review, so I'll be doing a post about that as well.  Besides that, I'll be bringing back plenty of photos and, hopefully, some interesting stories to tell.  So, come back in about a week's time to hear all about it.

Oh, and before I forget.  This week we won't be having our usual Friday Photo Fun contest, since I won't be here.  The next contest will be on the 25th.  See you then!

  10. What a universal convergence of Goodness: I'm able suddenly to visit some blogger sites (not all...tried yours last night and could read but not comment) AND you get to go to Barcelona. Incidentally, thanks for the tip to use a proxy server to visit blogspot sites; I was able to do that, but, again, not leave comments.

Anyhow: I'm soooo excited for you to have this time with your friend. Barcelona is on my "someday" list...so tell me where to go, honey. Tell me where to go!
