We just got home from our last Christmas program ever...that is, until we become grandparents, which I hope won't be happening any time soon.

Princess V just sang her last primary school carol, and while it's a bittersweet moment, we won't miss all the parents pushing to get a spot and blocking everyone's view while they stand to take photos of their kids.  This year the place was so packed that for a minute we thought we'd stumbled into a Lady Gaga concert by mistake, but then we saw there were no bodyguards, so we knew we were in the right place.  We ended up at the back, but we were luckier than some that didn't get in. I'm amazed that any of my photos turned out at all because I had to take them at maximum zoom, while perched on a wobbly bench.  There's Princess V, front and center.
Singing is very serious business, they might grade us on it.

Whew, we're done!   Can we have a vacation now?
I didn't get any video because I was so busy snapping photos, hoping to get at least one decent one, but I did record these 2nd graders that were just hilarious. It's Christmas "a la española"...ole! They got a standing ovation and everyone asked them to sing again, so I whipped out the camera and got part of the song.

Pay special attention to the little girl in blue in the front row. You can hardly see her, but when she sings you can sure hear her! She does a solo about a minute into the video and she's a real crack up. Oh, and sorry about the horrible quality of the video, but I was still standing on the wobbly bench, doing my best not to fall off.

And now I'm off to pack for my trip to the Land of no Internet, which is nowhere near as much fun as watching those kids sing.

  1. Very nice pictures and Violeta looks great. I can't believe this is her last program and your last child in elementery school. The second graders were great too and that little girl in blue was fantastic. I thought I heard Jesus laugh, he was probably standing next to you? It sounded so familiar. So when are you leaving for Caceres then? Have a safe trip!

  2. Hi! Your blog was recently tagged as Blog-A-Licious! Do keep your great posts coming!

  4. I missed our kids being in a concert this year! Thanks for feeding me vicarıosly, love.

  5. Hey, I am checking this blog using the phone and this appears to be kind of odd. Thought you'd wish to know. This is a great write-up nevertheless, did not mess that up.

  6. David: Thanks for the heads up. I'm not really sure what the blog looks like on mobile phones, but I'll see if I can fix it.
