Navarra en Marcha (Navarre on its Way)

While our friends from France were visiting, we just happened to walk into an exposition about how Navarre has changed from 1982 to the present.

Navarre is a special region that acquired certain legal privileges when it joined Spain in 1515, and in 1982 a pact was made between Navarre and the central government to protect and improve these laws. We learned lots of interesting things about how Navarre has improved its social and environmental conditions, as well as what's in store for the future. For example, we learned that 48% of the region's electricity is produced by wind power, and that by the year 2013 Navarre will have its own high-speed train.

But perhaps the best part of this exposition was taking a ride on a segway. We're not really sure if this was supposed to represent environmentally friendly transport or if it was just included to attract more people to the exposition. In any case, it was a great ride.
